During the 9th Uganda Evaluation Conference, the President of the Somali Evaluation Society (SOMES) held a side meeting with Dr. Takunda Chirau, Director of the Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Anglophone Africa (CLEAR–AA), accompanied by his team.

The discussion focused on potential collaboration between SOMES and CLEAR–AA to strengthen evaluation skills and professionalism in Somalia. Both parties emphasised the importance of this partnership, recognising its potential to build national capacity, foster professional standards, and advance evidence-based decision-making in fragile contexts.
Build national capacity — expanding the pool of skilled Somali evaluators through shared learning and training.
Foster professional standards — aligning practice in Somalia with recognised regional and international evaluation standards.
Advance evidence-based decision-making — strengthening the use of evaluation to inform policy and programming in fragile contexts.
SOMES will continue to pursue regional and international partnerships that close the integration gap for Somali evaluators and open new opportunities for peer learning, mentorship and professional growth.
